Dog Rose
(Rosa Canina)
A lovely and popular addition to a native mixed hedge with its burst of lightly scented pink/white open  flowers carried in clusters in May/June followed by orange/red rose hips, so much sought by wildlife who eat the seeds inside the hips. Dog Rose (also known as Wild Rose or Wild Briar) is very prickly and with a scrambling habit so it forms (or can help to form in a mixed hedge) an impenetrable barrier. It is very fast growing so we advise customers to plant smaller plants than the remainder of the hedge.  Dog Rose will grow well in any well drained moist soil in sun or shade (but best in sun) and will  withstand strong winds but is not very keen on coastal situations Home Living willow structures Willow Bed Kits Gift Vouchers Meet The Team Newsletter Testimonials Wigwam kit Arch and fedge kits Dome kits Willow arbour kits Hedges and Windbreaks Willow Cuttings Grow Your Own Woodfuel Delivery Contact
